Frequently Asked Questions
|

Do I need to have particular skills?
No, volunteering is a good way to improve your own skills or learn new ones, and training may well be provided.
How much time do I need to commit?
This is entirely up to you – as much or as little as you like. This could be a one-off task once a year to being available for a few hours every week.
Will it cost me anything?
No. Usually, any costs incurred will be reimbursed by the organisation (but do check with the them). Information provided by us will give you details on whether expenses are paid.
Will I have to travel?
It’s entirely up to you. We cover Bricket Wood, Chiswell Green, Colney Heath, London Colney, Harpenden, Park Street, Redbourn, St Albans, Sandridge and Wheathampstead, so can find you something close to home or further afield.
Can I volunteer with my friends?
Yes! We can find you something to do with your friends, with your family, or with your colleagues.
What if I don’t like the role I have been given?
You must enjoy voluntary work – after all, you don’t get paid for it! If you aren’t happy, talk to your Volunteer Manager, or come into the Volunteer Centre to explore other options.
